Ashborne Games and Nine Rocks Games became a partner of the game developer conference Game Access in Brno on June 2-3. The conference was full of fantastic talks and a great place to meet with other developers around their booths. There was even a masterclass about balancing games by industry veterans that our team took part in as well.
As usual, we shared our booth with our sister studio, Nine Rocks Games. This allowed us to show both the Way of the Hunter, already released, and tease our Unannounced Project. While journalists enjoyed a special event in the Art Cinema with our team, developers at the conference had a chance to get their hands on a unique build of our game. Said build showcased just a snippet of the game, one RTS mission, to be precise. We got a lot of valuable feedback from our peers, who left our booth happy to play the game even before its announcement.
We even kept our efforts in helping people in need via humanitarian organizations. We repeated our Beer for Ukraine and collected roughly EUR 1 000 for a good cause. This was supported by a recent announcement of THQ Nordic about the support our group does for refugees. Both Ashborne Games and Nine Rocks Games have a decent number of people they help to find a new life in Brno and Bratislava. Hearing a positive response to all our initiatives from Ukrainian and Russian developers at the conference was heartwarming.
Game Access provided even some great talks, including our Executive Producer on the THQ Nordic side – Michael Paeck – speaking about pitching games to publishers. Michal from Nine Rocks Games discussed community management in his talk as well. And some of our colleagues, our UX/UI Design Lead Kuba Špiřík and Narrative Designer Zdeněk Záhora, had concerts at one of the parties with their bands. All the knowledge sharing and fun time were refreshing, which is dearly needed as we head towards the finish line with our game.
Speaking about our unannounced project, we even got the Best Surprise of the Show prize from a Czech web Visiongame despite the game not being announced. If You want to know more about our historical RTS / Management game, please check its worldwide announcement during the PC Gaming Show on Sunday, 11th of June, at 10 PM CEST. See you all there!
