June was huge for us, so let's look back and review the month. Are you interested in what exciting events have occurred regarding the Last Train Home game? Read the article and find out.
On 11 June, we officially announced an epic survival strategy game Last Train Home, coming to PC in 2023. Our announcement trailer had an exclusive world premiere during the PC Gaming Show.
The game is inspired by the Czechoslovak Legionaries' struggle to make their way home after the Great War, which is - sadly - not a very well-known chapter of history. To our happiness, we have received highly positive feedback from people worldwide. Our sincere gratitude goes to everyone who expressed their opinion about the game via any means of communication and even wishlisted our game on Steam. It means a lot to us!
Two more affairs were connected to the announcement of the game.
First, we presented Last Train Home to the press. We hosted online conferences and organized an exclusive press preview at the Art Cinema in Brno, CZ, to achieve that. The event occurred on 1 June, ten days before the official announcement - so we had to be super careful to keep the information about the game private.
Because the trailer for Last Train Home includes unique live-action scenes, it was only natural to project it on the big silver screen. All the parties that participated in the filmmaking of the trailers - the dev team from Ashborne Games, THQ Nordic representatives, Czech Legionary Community, Gnomon production team, and the actors - have gathered in the cinema and watched the announcement trailer and behind-the-scenes video together. The event also included a presentation of the game's features and a debate regarding filmmaking. A special guest also attended the event - the award-winning actor Karel Dobrý, who plays Captain Langer in the trailers and the game itself. It was an exciting afternoon, and it certainly lifted everyone's spirits!
Right after that, the Game Access conference in Brno kicked off. We took this opportunity and presented our game as an "Unannounced Project" there. People who visited the booth we shared with Nine Rocks Games studio had an exclusive chance to play a short demo of Last Train Home, which included only one RTS mission. It was actually the same demo THQ Nordic showcased at the PAX East event in Boston, US, earlier this year. We were delighted to see players enjoy the gameplay, and we can't wait to see all the reactions when the game is released.
According to Simon Carless' (GameDiscoverCo) analysis, Last Train Home was Steam players' second most anticipated game from PC Gaming Show 2023 (in terms of Steam page follower increases) and the fifth most covered game by press from PC Gaming Show 2023.
We were pleased that many media (and not only the gaming-dedicated ones) noticed Last Train Home and were excited to see more. The titles that were so kind to mention the game were, for example, The Guardian, Kotaku, PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, Eurogamer, Screenrant, Game Rant or God is Geek.
We noticed many mentions in the worldwide media and in streams & videos of content creators, and we are very thankful for those! However, the reactions we cherish the most come directly from you, the players, for whom we are creating the game in the first place. We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback we have gotten so far and look forward to sharing more with you soon.
Stay tuned to our channels, and you'll always catch all the important news about the game.
